This is a Seasonal Position
$16.50/hr. and a Free YMCA Membership
Develop and deliver an Archery program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers and that utilizes the natural environment and the value of camping. Assist in the management of the Archery equipment and supplies. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Rochester is conveyed.
+ Create a positive atmosphere at archery that enhances the camp experience for all three age groups.
+ To make sure safety of our campers is the number one priority.
+ Design and deliver archery activities that ensure success for each camper.
+ Provide achievement based curriculum for campers to work towards growth within the archery program.
+ Hand in weekly plans or activities to the Camp Director no later than Thursday the week before programming.
+ Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.
+ Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and participate in Family Nights, Special Events, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
+ Attend all required meetings and training as required.
+ All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
+ Must be at least 16 years of age and have completed sophomore year of high school.
+ Must have experience and a genuine interest in camp and working with children.
+ Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer required; certifications must be valid/current before the first day of staff training and throughout the duration of your seasonal employment.
+ Must possess values consistent with the mission of the YMCA.
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and transport equipment from one location to another.
+ Ability to visibly observe children.
+ Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
+ Ability to demonstrate and lead activities.
+ Ability to hear distress signals even when distracted by noise and activity
+ Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme heat and humidity.
