Job Description

Reviews facilities plans, construction documents and specifications for projects ensuring conformance with organization design standards, construction procedures, regulatory authorities and materials. Coordinates with consulting architects, engineers and related consultants ensuring design documents are prepared in accordance with organization standards. Monitors project progress to ensure quality of design and construction documents and adherence to plans and specifications.

Job Responsibility

Interviews clients and prepares description of project requirements and goals (Project Information Memorandum).  Assists project management in defining project program, scope and preparation of development plan, schedule and budget (Project Charter).  Recommends selection of project architects/consultants.  Assists in preparation of Certificate of Need application.  Coordinates the development of project design with architects, consultants, organization reviews; coordinates User/Client reviews.  Reviews facilities plans, construction documents and specifications for projects ensuring conformance with organization design, construction procedures, regulatory authorities and materials; ensures integration of planning and construction policies and procedures in accordance with system’s hospital Master Plans.  Coordinates with consulting architects, engineers and related consultants to ensure design documents are prepared in accordance with organization standards and approved project plans.  Coordinates development of mock-up requirements; conducts pre-construction conference and overview orientation of final project design drawings and specifications with project architects, consultants and appropriate organization personnel.  Utilizes software to assist in the development of alternative concepts as well as illustrative schematic layouts.  Monitors project progress to ensure quality of design and construction documents and adherence to plans, specifications, and design schedule for all major projects.  Monitors progress of design consultants during design phase; monitors progress of Architect of Record during construction phase.  Provides ongoing evaluations of the client's facilities, equipment and furniture.  Reviews and recommends updates of organization design standards; may provide consulting services to department within area(s) of architectural specialty.  Operates under general guidance and work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action.  Performs related duties as required. Job Qualification

Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Licensed, Registered Architect in the State of New York, preferred, plus specialized certifications as needed.  3-5 years of technical experience, required.
