Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Licensed Architect for our growing Bloomfield, NJ office to work on interesting, challenging projects for a variety of clients. 

This Architect position will be responsible for the following items: 

Performing basic architectural/engineering calculationsPreparing specifications, reports and related data tablesMaintaining liaison with design and drafting groupsPreparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as requiredUnder the direction of the Supervising Architect, may independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgetsMay coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned projectMay assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnelMay review and approve conceptual designsMay assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniquesProvide support coordinating design, technical and administrative activities in the execution of transit, aviation, and other public and private sector projectsWork in tight coordination with the Philadelphia architectural design team to schedule, implement, and coordinate all aspects of architectural services from design to construction documents in compliance with office and client standardsLead and coordinate architectural work with engineering disciplines both in-house and with consultantsAttend client presentation and progress meetings to communicate design intent and technical detailsAssist in, prepare and coordinate architectural details with other architectural team members for consistency with project design intent and office/client standardsPerform project setup, drawing layout, modifications, and reviews within RevitAssist in the preparation of work effort estimates of architectural services for proposalsProvide regular updates with project managers for schedule and budget compliance for architectural servicesAssist in the coordination of projects with multi­discipline teams of architects, engineers, and consultants for public and private clientsMentor junior architects and designers, and be responsible for determining technical objectives of project assignments in conjunction with project management and design principlesDevelop solutions to complex technical problemsReview construction documents for compliance with client/project requirementsPrepare program analysis, life safety code analysis, concept designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and project specifications

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS in Architecture or equivalent degree plus six (6) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationArchitecture License is required for this position

Preferred Qualifications

Eight (8) years of strong technical skills and demonstrated experience in all phases of architecture project deliveryProfessional experience in a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros, Bently Microstation, Open Building, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop and PowerPointExceptional interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate a collaborative environmentDiverse knowledge of architecture principles and practicesStrong client facing skills and exemplary communication and collaboration skillsStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsBe able to work independently, in a team environment and as a project team leaderBe able to carry assignments to completion in accordance with project objectives, codes/criteria/standards, policies, and proceduresMay oversee the work of junior architects and designersAbility to work in a fast-paced work environmentCoordinating design activities with other disciplinesProvide technical leadership to assigned projects to assure that all technical work produced is of high quality and within the context of schedule and budget
