Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will evaluate engineering and architectural items (e.g., designs, drawings, specifications, supporting documents) to determine effectiveness in meeting requirements of shore establishment projects. You will manage overall coordination and phased development of projects to determine feasibility of proposed architect-engineer (A/E) work. You will review construction project parameters (e.g., integration, scope, time, cost, quality, communication, procurement, risk management) to recommend changes that will improve the overall project results. You will prepare design bid-build and design-build construction documents for facilities projects. You will use Auto-Cad for project design and documentation to verify successful delivery of construction, repair, and renovation projects. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Selective Placement Factor (SPF): This position has an SPF which is current registration as a Professional Architect (RA) in any state, District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. If you meet this requirement, you must provide a copy of your current registration with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not show current registration status will not serve to verify you meet this requirement. In addition to the Basic Requirements and SPF for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Utilizing architectural concepts, theories, principles, practices and techniques to plan, design, manage, construct, preserve, restore, rehab, oversee, and maintain a wide range of shore installation facilities projects; 2) Ensuring federal guide specifications, criteria, policy, building codes, safety policies and standard practices are followed in architectural design; 3) Clearly communicating proposed architectural designs and study results to personnel; and 4) Overseeing, leading, and/or assisting in the budgeting, planning, and project management for architectural and design services. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must posses: Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in architecture. OR: Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to architecture that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. OR: Have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The curriculum for a degree is in either architecture or architectural engineering and covers function, esthetics, site, structure, economics, mechanical-electrical, and other engineering problems related to the design and construction of buildings primarily (but not exclusively) intended to house human activities. OR: you lack a degree in architecture, but have 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture that demonstrates that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture. (Note - In the absence of college courses, 5 years of such experience is required). Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
