Our Development & Construction (D&C) department in Phoenix consists of 30 team members. We have East Valley & West Valley teams in in our department and you will support the West Valley, consisting of 6 hospitals and numerous ambulatory care facilities. Although we are not front line staff directly taking care of patients, we support those that do by building and renovating clinical areas. While our team is not made up of doctors and nurses, we build the operating rooms, Cath labs, emergency departments, doctor’s offices and everything in between! Some projects are flashy, like a new hospital in Scottsdale with a budget over $300M, while others are as simple as replacing an Air Handling Unit.

Our supportive team is essential in providing safe patient care to our community and, as our Architectural CAD Coordinator, you will help support upwards of 400+ projects per year! Daily, you will create and/or update master floor plans, assist PM's with validating and editing information, work closely with our Facilities team members, utilize your amazing drafting skills and AutoCAD knowledge, etc. If you want to learn and evolve within this space, there is opportunity for growth. Schedule: Monday - Friday, typically 8:00am - 5:00pm.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for coordinating, developing, drafting and maintaining the design standards and templates for use on all construction projects to maintain consistency throughout the system. Position maintains electronic building documents and standards for AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, design template libraries and specifications. Prepare annual facility square foot documentation for regulatory reporting.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Develops in-house conceptual architectural designs studies for all aspects of an in-patient medical facility and ambulatory facility. These conceptual designs/studies are given to Architectural teams to indicate Banner Health best practice and are also used to develop cost models for proposed projects. Concept design studies include the following: (1) Develop and produce site studies for building layouts and parking lots, parking counts and building elevations that will comply with municipality design reviews and city council approvals. This will require understanding of municipality design review requirements and working closely with the real estate consultant and project management team. These studies are a necessary step in the process of determining the full potential and use of a new site prior to land purchases; (2) Study existing building and department footprints and provide design requirement studies of various service programs as defined by administration and the project management teams for inclusion in the budgeting and capital funding process prior to approval and hire of the architect and engineering team. This will require knowledge of the current building codes and guidelines set forth by the Arizona Department of Health Services as well as the Department of Health Services in other states in which Banner has facilities.

2. Develops and maintains building templates for in-patient and ambulatory facilities. Building templates are developed internally and will study all aspects of patient care, facility infrastructure and life safety. The purpose of the building templates is to establish Banner standards and best practices. These standards convey Banner expectations to external architects and engineers to reduce variation across the system.

3. Develops and implements AutoCAD/Revit/BlueBeam drawing features, which include, but are not limited to, symbols, legends, and terminology, to support the department and project management on all special systems. This also includes developing and implementing standard department color coded plans required by the Arizona Department of Health Services. This also pertains to other states in which Banner has facilities.

4. Establish guidelines for consistent and accurate record files, maintains the AutoCAD/Revit/BlueBeam standards and processes, establishes practice and procedures for system users and guides architectural firms through the organization of the standards and templates. This includes defining the Revit origin points to use at each facility for BIM model coordination. Periodically reviews and updates BIM standards to reflect lessons learned and long term use of models.

5. Facilitates project construction data collection on all projects throughout each calendar year and provides the square footage data reports to the regulatory department for Medicare reporting. This also includes maintaining reports on a dedicated SharePoint site for regulatory and financial teams to access.

6. Acts as a resource for the clarification of codes and standards for regulatory agencies which include, but not limited to, International Building Codes, National Fire Protection Agency and the Arizona Department of Health Services for Architectural Review and Licensing as well as. This also pertains to other states in which Banner has facilities.

7. Manages the electronic drawing database, which includes, but is not limited to, identifying and defining user and group security. Updates database for each facility with latest drawings at the end of each construction project.

8. Serves as a liaison to the design team and project management by maintaining data files, creating programs and providing training to the department staff.

9. The ability to interface and interact with system administrative teams, Project Executives, Project Managers, User Groups, and external architectural and engineering firms as needed.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 

Must possess an Associates degree in Architectural Technology.

Five plus years of AutoCAD and Revit production experience in the medical field, primarily hospital-related. Requires extensive knowledge in all phases of project planning, space design and regulatory agency requirements.

One year of BlueBeam or other PDF editor based software. Must be proficient in common office software such as word, excel, power point, project, outlook. Must possess basic mathematic skills to compute project estimation and square footage calculations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
