We’re looking for a Senior Architectural Designer who takes pride in the quality and punctuality in their designs. As a Senior Architectural Designer/Technologist you will be supporting both the needs of Operations and Business Development groups by producing conceptual to detailed design drawings using Revit. This role reports to the Manager Design.
What You Get to Do:
Timely delivery of Building Code compliant and cost-effective architectural and structural drawings BIM modelling through acute collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering and Estimating. Coordinates architectural designs with other disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Structural) to ensure seamless integration with the manufacturing process References the product cost estimate during the drawing process and raises any significant anomalies with the appropriate internal stakeholders Ensures designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, regulations, and procedures Prepares accurate, detailed material take-offs, creates BOM Navigates the shop drawing review process by approving vendor submittals Communicates successfully with third party consultants like architects or building envelope consultants. Maintains awareness of current building codes through internal and external technical resources Operates within ISO Quality system and company safety policy in all phases of assignments Work together with the Manufacturing Plant to improve designs and construction processes Views products in the manufacturing frequently with internal stakeholders to confirm accuracy of drawings, Assists with the development of a product specific BIM library for use by the design team. Architectural Technologist diploma or equivalent experience 7+ years with understanding of wood construction is a must Proficiency with Revit is a must. Modelling and creating bill of materials Proficient with Autodesk products, BIM360, Twin Motion and photoshop skills an asset Basic understanding of project management requirements (RFI’s, RFP’s, Time Management and Meeting Minutes) Familiarity with pre-manufactured modular and pre-engineered building technologies is an asset Good knowledge of Canadian Building Codes (AB, BC) and standards Good understanding of engineering practices applicable to the wood construction industry. Knowledge of Energy Codes (9.36 and NECB) preferred An understanding of multidiscipline building design systems, building specifications Superior organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills Attention to detail and strong communication skills Self -starter and works well under pressure and within a team atmosphere Proficient using MS Word, Excel and PowerPointWhat We Offer:
