Job Description

AECOM is seeking a full-time Architectural History Supervisor for employment in the Raleigh, NC office. This position is the front-line supervisor who manages our local Historic Architecture Group, is responsible for the overall quality of staff work, and oversees projects and has project or task-level financial accountability.  You’ll become a valued member of our thriving Cultural Resources Team, where you’ll be surrounded by passionate and talented colleagues who are eager to collaborate and support each other.

Responsibilities: 

Supervising a group of two or more architectural historiansManaging the finances, staffing, schedule, and quality of projects and tasksAssisting with business development activitiesInteracting with project managers, clients, state HPOs, federal review agencies, and associates in a professional consulting environmentConducting research and developing studies and analyses on regional and local basisPreparing reports and presentationsAdvising project managers and planners regarding historic preservation issues, particularly as they relate to Section 106 and Section 4(f)Performing field work to gather dataSupporting senior staff in preparation for meetings and presentationsParticipating in public meetings or hearings to explain technical information and to gather feedback from those affected by transportation projects

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

BA/BS Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or closely related discipline and 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationKnowledge of Section 106 of the NHPA, Section 4(f) of the DOT Act, and NEPARegionally specific (North Carolina and surrounding states) architectural history experienceValid U.S Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records reviewAbility to travel within the East/Southeastern United States to visit team locations, client sites and regulatory agencies

 

PREFERRED:

Master’s degree in architectural history, historic preservation, or closely related disciplineStrong skills in surveying and analyzing historic resources, be able to conduct field surveys and architectural historic research, and have the facility to draft clearly written reports. Business development and client relationship management experienceExperience working on North Carolina Department of Transportation projectsSupervisory experience
