Job Description:

The Architectural Project Manager effectively manages the design development and implementation of capital projects which will provide a best-in-class retail environment for Weis customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

The Architectural Project Manager will communicate and interpret company goals from Store Development Leadership, Internal Merchants, and Store Operators toward successful project design development.  They supervise outside design consultants and vendors from the early design concept phase, through construction document completion. They coordinate project progress through relevant regulatory and permitting agencies.  They provide design and construction administration support to the Weis Construction and Facilities Maintenance Departments.

The Architectural Project Manager is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

Plan and execute projects through all phases of the design process:  Programming, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents.Provide creative input and direction toward developing best-in-class retail environments.Supervise a cross-functional design team through the full project design process: Consisting of internal associates, consulting architects, engineers, and equipment vendors.  Manage project completions based on established timelines and budget.Maintain and manage internal design standards as they are implemented into developing projects.Produce design work according to established standards, methods, and procedures of work of Weis Store Development.Research and design to all relevant code requirements and regulations of authorities having jurisdiction to ensure a successful permitting process.Balance the needs, wants, and desires of company leadership and internal clients for each project with budget and schedule goals to obtain the best overall result for Weis.Provide construction administration support to Weis Construction and the Facilities Maintenance Departments: Manage submittals and requests for information (RFIs). Provide timely and effective communication that supports the budget and schedule goals of each project in construction.Provide weekly updates on progress and strategy for next steps in project completion.Present and advocate company goals at public review and approval meetings.Continually grow a high-level understanding of grocery retail environments, as it relates to creating a high-quality facility experience for Customers and Weis Associates; as well as providing solutions that can be efficiently maintained over the long term.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not directly supervise associates. It does require management of outside consulting architects, engineers, and equipment supply vendors toward the successful completion of projects.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Education and/or Experience

Minimum: Associates Degree in Architecture or Interior Design, and at least three (3) years of experience in design and architecture. Preferred: Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design, and at least five (5) years of experience in design and architecture.
