Responsibilities:
In this position you will work to implement or normalize, streamline, and maintain CICD pipelines across our many projects. Ensuring consistent deployment processes while implementing best practices for automated testing.
Automate RPM package creation and managing build dependencies across multiple projects. Work closely with development teams to implement standardized packaging processes, ensuring consistent and reliable software distribution while maintaining proper versions and dependency management.
Design and implement comprehensive security scanning solutions including SAST and DAST tools within the development pipeline, analyzing the results and collaborating with development teams to remediate identified vulnerabilitie4s and maintain security compliance.
Administer and optimize GitLab infrastructure, managing user access controls, runner configurations, and third-party integrations while ensuring high availability and performance of the platform across development teams.
Lead troubleshooting efforts for development environment issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions to minimize downtime and optimize developer productivity.
Foster effective collaboration between laboratory operations and management teams, providing technical expertise on infrastructure requirements, resource allocation and process improvements to support objectives.
Implement and certify backup solutions across all critical systems, regularly testing recovery procedures and maintaining detailed documentation to ensure business continuity and compliance with data retention policies.
Perform hands-on installation or replacement and configuration of hardware infrastructure components, including servers, server components, and storage systems.
Implement and maintain infrastructure monitoring and alerting systems for the development environment. Create dashboards to provide visibility into system health and performance metrics.
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all systems, processes, and procedures, including runbooks, architectural diagrams, and disaster recovery plans.
This is a full time position that is 90% remote. The qualified candidate must reside in the northern Virginia area and be capable, when needed, to make trips to our lab when needed to investigate or for activities that require hands-on the equipment.

Qualifications:
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field
Minimum of 5 years experience in DevOps or similar IT operations role.
Proven experience managing GitLab administration and CI/CD pipeline development.
Strong background in infrastructure automation and infrastructure as code tools
Experience implementing and managing security scanning tools (SAST/DAST) and security best practices.
Advanced knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration and shell scripting.
Experience with RPM packaging and automation of package builds within CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of Linux package management systems and dependency resolution.
Hands-on experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
Practical experience with hardware installation and configuration in lab environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience leading technical incident resolution.
Demonstratable proficiency in networking, encryption, and PKI.
Deep understanding of virtualization and hypervisors.
Experience with Docker.
Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Desired:
Experience working with CSfC, Cross Domain, Single Domain, and RTB solutions
RHEL-specific experience and certifications
Experience with Debian packaging (DEB) and related tooling, including package building and repository management in CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Ceph storage is a plus

The proposed salary range for this position is:
