Area Construction Mgr
Overview This position is primarily responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of field operations, while communicating with Division offices to ensure successful completion of all homes on time and within budget. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Manages and maintains all field personnel; conducts weekly meetings with Builders. Coordinates with planning and building officials. Sets, maintains and expedites production schedules. Interfaces and communicates regularly with Construction Department Head, subcontractors, sales counselors and homeowners; coordinates with all departments on schedules. Ensures staff complies with Company safety and quality control standards as well as any agency standards. Ensures job sites are using correct quality of material per plans and specifications, coordinates supply and material handling. Assists with development of option cut-off dates. Ensures maintenance of all site appearances. Performs other duties assigned by supervisor. Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in construction related field/equivalent experience preferred. At least Ten years of progressive responsibility with proven fast-track builder, of which two years should have been in General Superintendent function. Skills & Abilities Ability to recognize and resolve problems. Organizational skills; detail oriented. Strong management, leadership and motivational skills. Possess good judgement and common sense. Certified in first aid and CPR preferred. Technical Knowledge & Experience Knowledge of local codes and construction methods, construction material identification and use. Knowledge of all phases of new home construction and Federal, State and Company safety regulations; ability to read and interpret blueprints. Knowledge of job site safety. Knowledge of trades and UBC and local codes. Budget and cost control experience. General Contractor's license is preferred. Physical Requirements May have occasion to lift/carry and/or push/pull 50 pounds. May require travel to multiple construction sites where temperature, weather and noise may vary; may encounter electrical, dust, poor ventilation, dangerous machinery and moving objects and toxic conditions.
