Scope and General Purpose of Job
In addition to the main responsibilities to manage HR for their own hotel, the Area Director of HR coordinates all HR activities within the assigned area. Accountabilities include the implementation of Hyatt’s global and regional HR strategy in the area, and the HR business partner support of their respective Area Vice President. This will be achieved through close collaboration with Regional HR leaders and the respective Regional HR COEs.

Drive Hyatt’s Purpose and Values and Hyatt’s Leadership profile.Provide guidance to the hotel Human Resource Lead for alignment of hotel level HR goals to the regional and global goals.Ensure that Global and Regional communications/ initiatives are effectively implemented. Re-enforce the ‘People Playbook’ to further build skills and capabilities of HR and other leaders to optimise usage.Ensure the key HR policies are issued in the hotels.Talent Management
Partner with the AVP and the General Managers to ensure identification of “top talent” (talent identified with potential to become GMs Area functional heads); champion talent reviews.Coordinate with hotels to ensure all associates have quality performance development discussion performed twice a year and support AVP and General Managers with check-in conversations for their respective direct reports.Liaise with Regional HR to support the colleagues on the GM development program.Develop skills and competencies of the HR colleagues, through appropriate training, mentoring and coaching.Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding
Assist in identifying external key talents; support hotels by participating in the selection process for key personnel as required; encourage the use of leadership assessment tools.Ensure each hotel/country develops their Employee Value Proposition (EVP) while ensuring this is in line with Hyatt Purpose.Drive CLT recruitment process and ensure appropriate brand building.Keep a cordial and good working relationship with the identified hotel schools so we have first access to top talent graduating.Colleague Engagement
Support global, regional or local engagement, satisfaction, leadership and/ or trust survey initiatives; assist hotels with communication and action planning.Follow through and support hotels on key focus areas identified from the survey feedback.Inclusion and Diversity
Promote Inclusion and diversity within the hotels by driving initiatives that support the overarching objectives of the GIDC. Support development of female top talent leaders in the area hotels.Coordinate and guide RiseHY program with the area hotels.Safety and Well-Being
Support and re-enforce the safety, and wellbeing standards at area hotels; ensure all colleagues are oriented with updated safety standards.Communicate and activate the ‘Feel/Fuel/Function’ framework of Wellbeing.Drive Guest Engagement and Customer Personalization
Training and Guest Engagement
Assist hotels in conducting leadership learning, liaise with learning specialist to address individual and hotel learning needs for enhanced guest engagement. Work with the hotel learning resources and ensure that relevant learning interventions are provided to the hotel teams in driving customer loyalty and engagement through World of Hyatt, leveraging consumer insights and digital platforms.Operate with Excellence
Business Support
Assist the General Managers and AVP with business strategy process at the Area hotels.Assist the human resources teams with financial strategies and budgets.Ensures efficient staffing levels helping hotels to maximise productivity.Benchmark Archer best practices and share with the hotel teams to drive operational efficiencies.Conduct MORs within the Area as required; support hotel HR in developing relevant action plans.HR Data and Analytics
Support the hotel leadership to utilise Data Analytics to help influence changes to the operation process, programs and staffing structures.Implement measures to improve data integrity in HR systems.Total Rewards
Support Area hotels in the annual salary review process.Assist hotels in maintaining competitive and updated salary and benefits grid.Coordinate external benchmarks and key surveys supporting the HR function (ie. Compensation salary surveys/ Manpower surveys).Employee Relations/ Legal
Guide hotel HR on employee relation matters, union negotiations and specific disciplinary/ court cases as appropriate.Deal with grievances and violations invoking disciplinary action when required.Grow with Intent
Hotel Openings / Take Overs
Assist in conducting market labour survey.Develop the Pre-Opening Budget and benefit grid.Assist in recruitment of key positions.Assist in induction of newly appointed GM and the Director of HR.Assist as needed with Hotel Pre-Opening Strategy Workshops.Supporting new hotel openings or integration (in case of takeovers) in the Area. Effective utilisation of pre-opening Toolkit.Assist the AVP/ Regional Office in developing Cluster, Shared Services and Shared roles across all functions in order to build synergies between the hotels.Scope and General Purpose of Job
