This position supports International Paper’s Columbus Mill (CCF) located in Columbus, Mississippi.  CCF is a vital part of International Paper’s Global Cellulose Fibers Business.  We are a converting operation that produces specialty fibers used in the production of diapers and other absorbent personal care products.

 

 

The Job You Will Perform:

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for providing direction to area multi-craft technicians and other team members as necessary.  The successful candidate will provide leadership to drive out repetitive maintenance problems, reduce maintenance cost and improve equipment reliability.  The position reports to the Mill Maintenance Manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Be a role model and champion for an injury-free work place and promote safety and excellence in all areas of influence. Responsible for gaining commitment and motivating employees toward a common goal in a union-free team environment. Responsible for leading process safety improvements through personal commitment and other safety programs. Work closely with operations leadership to understand their needs and to maintain a one team, positive relationship, between operations and maintenance. Lead the technical development of approximately 32 hourly technicians and 2 salaried Front Line Leaders, engaged in day-to-day utilities and woodyard maintenance activities. Provide leadership in proactive maintenance practices and process reliability improvements. Lead area outage planning and ensure safe execution of plans. Responsible for preparing, monitoring and managing the area maintenance budget.

 

 

The Skills You Will Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum three (3) years leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; five (5) + years preferred. Experience in the pulp and paper industry is preferred. Experience leading troubleshooting and maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment. Detailed knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations. Knowledge and experience in maintenance best practices. Ability to track and measure performance utilizing standard methods/tools. Ability to lead in a high-performance team environment and get work done through others. Ability to collaborate with peers and work well work others. Strong computer skills including proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
