Area Sales Manager, Central Coast

Pacifica Hotels is searching for an Area Sales Manager to join the team in the California Central Coast! The Area Sales Manager is responsible for increasing revenue generation by ensuring the optimal sales efforts are in place at assigned area hotels and by increasing revenues by soliciting new group and transient business, on behalf of all hotels.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

• Prospecting, presenting area hotels to potential clients, overcoming objections and closing business.
• Analyzing current and potential business segments and coordinating all activities to increase revenue and market share.
• Leading tactical projects such as tele-prospecting and the coordination of sales blitzes.
• Direct solicitation calls to local business and prospective leads.
• Providing leadership and direction to hotel teams and use selling skills to teach and lead by example.
• Proactively pursue, organize and book sleeping rooms and group business for the hotels.
• Implement policies and procedures when necessary for optimal efficiencies to occur in all areas of the sales transactions and lead turnover.
• Gain knowledge of the competition's product and current marketing strategies.
• Complete sales objectives and ongoing action plan, as directed by the Regional Director of Sales.
• Communicate effectively with all hotels to ensure group arrangements are carried out as efficiently as possible.
• Complete weekly, monthly and quarterly sales reports.
• Ensure all client information and communications are entered into the sales system for proper and accurate record keeping.
• Achieve a revenue and activity goals as established by management.
• Participate in industry and civic organizations representing opportunities for future public relations and new business.
• Respond promptly to all sales related inquires and correspondence from customers, prospects and lead referrals.
• Conduct weekly quota of proactive sales calls in the form of telephone calls, office appointments, blitzes, hotel sight inspections, trade shows and networking functions/meetings.
• Confirm group bookings, using availability and rate guidelines approved by the General Manager and revenue management.
• Identify opportunities to shift group opportunities from one hotel to another based on customer needs.
• Promote destination and all Pacifica hotels when appropriate.
• Promote a professional positive image of the hotel at all times through personal appearance, civic functions and general public relations.
• Travel as necessary to assigned hotels, for sales calls and trade shows.
• Respond promptly to requests by the General Managers of the assigned hotels as well as the Regional Dir. Of Sales and or VP Of Sales.

1. Group Business: Corporate, SMERF, Association and Government
2. Corporate Transient
3. Banquets and Catering when applicable

 

Sales Calls Quota: To be deemed by hotel assignment.

Booking Objective: To be determined at hotel level.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Independent Judgement Used: Often within the guidelines established by management and to the extent of operating within Company policies and procedures.

Working Conditions/Environment: Extensive travel; indoors, various offices. Outdoors, touring properties, walking to/from automobile. Driving on roads and highways. Carrying promotional materials including trade show booth.

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Education/Experience: Three years hotel sales experience. Strong English skills, both oral and written.

Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: Strong leadership, salesmanship and public relations skills. Strong presentation, communication and organizational skills required. Proficient in supervising, training, coaching, and counseling. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations. Ability to direct performance of team members and follow-up with corrective action where needed. Ability to work long hours, 5 to 6 days a week. Basic accounting procedures. Computer skills; Work, Excel and PowerPoint. Valid driver’s license with proof of auto liability insurance.

Physical Requirements: Driving, walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, carrying and lifting up to 35 lbs. Reaching above, at and below shoulder level.

 

Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000
