AREA SALES MANAGER ABOUT YOU: Are you a strategic leader with a passion for driving results and inspiring teams? Jostens is hiring an Area Sales Manager to lead and grow a high-performing sales team. This role focuses on delivering profitable sales growth, developing leaders, and optimizing resources to achieve sustained success. Area Sales Managers (ASM) are responsible for achieving profitable sales and sustained growth goals and objectives within a large geographic area. This role is responsible for driving results by leading and inspiring the independent sales channel with a strong emphasis on values-based leadership focused on customer satisfaction and strategic commitment. It includes overseeing resource planning and execution, such as organizational capability, succession planning, channel capacity planning, and sales forecasting. Additionally, accountability extends to ensuring compliance with business policies and managing the division's sales expense budget. The role actively participates in business and project teams, contributing to the development and implementation of new products, service introductions, sales compensation plans, and sales support strategies. This includes collaboration with various cross functional teams, such as marketing, market technology, e-business, finance, and human resources, to create effective end-to-end processes. Incumbents of this role are required to be on call and/or available after hours, to provide their own mobile device, and to distribute their mobile phone number accordingly. Alternatively, individuals may distribute their office phone number if their office phone is set to forward calls to their personal device when they are not physically present. YOU HAVE: Education. Bachelor's degree in business or a related field. Experience. Minimum of 4 years in a management role with demonstrated successful leadership. At least 5 years’ experience in consultative, program-oriented sales environment as a sales representative. Professional, independent experience in sales support such as marketing, consulting or appropriate program-based experience may be considered as substitute for the sales representative experience. Preferred Consultative and Educational Sales experience. Tech-Savviness. Must be proficient in technology MS Office, Outlook/Calendar, Internet. Preferred SalesForce.com experience and ability to analyze and translate data from the system. Analytical Skills. Must have experience with management reports/sales tracking and experience using market and financial data to understand trends and drive results. Time Management Expertise. Must have strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Communication Excellence. Must have excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to lead the team and positively represent the company to external customers. Preferred experience managing multi-state or large geographic territory with remote direct reports. Development of Future Leaders. Must have experience and demonstrated successful development of talent. Must have demonstrated ability to strategically manage in a performance and results-based culture. Preferred prior Sales Management experience. Preferred Sales Management experience leading independent sales teams. YOU WILL: Drive Sales Profitability. Meet and exceed sales targets for revenue and profitability. Implement marketing strategies to meet business unit growth and profitability targets. Develop and maintain customer satisfaction throughout the region; handle customer issues/problems with accounts. Work with sales reps to compete effectively in the market to maintain and acquire new accounts. Personally sell in key accounts where additional resources are required. Plan Strategically. Territory/Market Analysis and Planning. Analyze sales data; summarize sales and customer data for management 25%. Implement effective sales coverage and territory alignment plans. Forecast future sales for the region based on data. Implement and monitor territory planning throughout the sales region. Understand competition and implement competitive selling strategies. Advise on market needs, products, and new opportunity development. Support Financial/Administrative Responsibilities. Develop annual sales expense budgets with appropriate controls for P&L management. Effectively manage sales support dollars in alignment with company objectives. Track and maintain regional records to consistently report results. Partner effectively with sales support functions. Coach & Performance Manage. Identify potential candidates to keep pipeline full promptly backfill open Sales Rep territories. Onboard, train, develop, and retain key sales force talent. Establish and reinforce performance standards; provide performance feedback; deal with performance deficiencies in a timely and effective manner. Communicate a variety of information with sales reps. Partner with Finance to implement and drive compensation/incentive plans for Sales Reps. Make sales calls with reps; coach for continuous improvement. Travel as Needed.
