Department OverviewThis Department is responsible for selling Motorola Solutions public safety solutions to city, county and state agencies in Austin. This is a long cycle sales position in a highly competitive marketplace.
Job Description

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will manage and lead the Austin focused account team for Motorola Solutions; the industry leading provider of mission critical technology solutions for State and Local government customers.  This Team is responsible for sales generation, strategic account planning and overall relationship management for the targeted Customer base in Austin.

The ASM will be responsible but not limited to the following:

Proactively develop large project opportunities encompassing a wide range of products and services (core and emerging technologies) with particular focus on next generation technology and platforms

Develop strong, trusted advisor relationships with key decision makers and influencers within and outside of public safety

Responsible for the strategy and execution of the sales team and interface with all team members in a way that drives business results and motivates the proper activity

Effectively lead internal teams on critical projects and issue resolution with clear direction and purpose

Maintain target Customer intelligence data in SalesForce for a timely & accurate sales forecast

Understand, manage, and maintain all contract vehicles within Austin

Be responsible for achieving both order and revenue financial performance for their assigned team’s territory by creating and maintaining a healthy team pipeline

Networking and Strategy Development with key Motorola Solutions' work partners

Accurately forecast territory order and revenue numbers on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis

Measure results in the sales funnel and account forecasts and take corrective action to ensure targets are met or exceeded

Function as a coach/consultant for Account Managers to drive efficiencies and contributions

Be aware of competition and technology disruptors that may impact your territory and partner community

Ability to quickly learn new key characteristics of products/solutions and communicate the value of those solutions to employees and customers

Understand Motorola Solutions contract terms & compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

4+ years of documented track record of sales performance within a technology environment is required

Seeking 3+ years of leadership experience

Sales level understanding of MSI radio portfolio, P25 radio systems, mobile & fixed video, Dispatch Center Software, and 911

Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a C-Level executives

Ability to drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the bid environment

Understanding of public safety domain, Motorola portfolio, competitive landscape; customer procurement processes and has dealt effectively with political decision making landscape

Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the designated territory

Reside in the Greater Austin Area

Bachelors Degree with 4+ years of sales/public safety experience OR 8+ years of sales/public safety experience
