Job Summary

The Division of Public Safety and Security conducts all police and security operations at the university (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint) and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. DPSS offers an integrated approach to safety and security, partnering across the university and helping everyone in the U-M community take charge of their safety.

This position is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of the University of Michigan's facilities. You will be primarily at Michigan Medicine, located at 1500 E. Medical Center, Ann Arbor, MI, but may be deployed for similar assignments throughout the University of Michigan campus. This position involves monitoring and operating weapons detection systems, including safeguarding the employees, visitors, and guests. This position will have arrest authority through PA330, while on property and in full uniform.

Additional Information

All members of DPSS are considered Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. As such, you are required to report any Clery reportable offenses that come to your attention. DPSS employees must also complete the Clery Compliance training within 14 days of employment and annually thereafter.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Police Officers Association of Michigan union, which contains and settles all matters with concerning wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
