IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY Curriculum & Instruction + Plan and implement instruction based upon district standards and best instructional practices aligned to the K-12 instructional model. + Implement the instructional program, including practices to support a multi-tiered system of support. + Establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members. + Understand and implement culturally responsive curriculum which is standards based. Assessment + Utilize formative and summative assessment to monitor and differentiate instructional practice based upon learners. + Analyze class building, district, and state assessment data to inform curriculum implementation and instructional decisions. + Document student progress, learning, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents/guardians and administration regarding student progress. Resource Management + Create a safe and positive learning environment to support all students. + Maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities. Working with Students + Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to be productive citizens. + Continually support student growth academically, socially and emotionally. Maintaining Effective Communication with the Community + Collaborate with colleagues, district leadership and families to create a classroom culture that supports high expectations for student learning. + Provide regular and effective communication w/families to support home/school connections. QUALIIFICATIONS + Valid teaching certificate for the State of New York with required endorsement in area of assignment + Prior experience in the school setting preferred, but not required. + Successful New York State fingerprint clearance AUTHORITY + The K-12 Art teacher is directly responsible to the building principal and district leadership.
