You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference. **Job Category** Legal **Target Openings** 2 **What Is the Opportunity?** Under moderate supervision of a supervising counsel, this position provides qualified students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and receive valuable on-the-job training through assisting and supporting counsel in all aspects of litigation management, including: conducting legal research, participation in the development and execution of legal strategy, drafting legal documents, and attending litigation events. Opportunity for rotations with one or more of the following departments: Claim Legal, Regulatory Compliance, and/or Specialty Lines may be available. **What Will You Do?** + Assist and support Staff Counsel, Travelers Canada’s in-house litigation department, in all aspects of litigation. + Conduct legal research on a variety of issues, + Prepare memos, pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, etc. + Organize file contents and handle basic file information gathering. + Attend Court for litigation events (e.g. motion, assignment court, etc.). + Work on special projects and/or assignments (e.g. blog posts, case law updates, etc.). + Interact with counsel, staff, clients, claim and other business partners to locate and discuss cases, evidence, and other issues in support of litigation management. + Learn and understand claim customers’ expectations and key department business goals and assist in meeting those goals. + Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? + Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications. + Proficiency in online legal research (WestLaw, CanLII, etc.). + Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. + A strong academic background, demonstrated by a high grade point average (GPA), honors or distinctions. + Demonstrated interest and excitement about the prospect of making litigation and/or the insurance industry their future career choice. **What is a Must Have?** + Juris Doctorate (JD) or Bachelor of Law (LLB) required or in final year of an accredited law school. + Registered for the Lawyer Licensing Process with the relevant Law Society. + Travel as required to meet business needs. **Equal Employment Opportunity Statement** Travelers is an equal opportunity employer.
