Summary This National Guard position is for a ARTILLERY REPAIRER LEADER, Position Description Number D1265000 and is part of the OH G4 SMO CSMS, Ohio Army National Guard. The purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader of three or more Artillery Repairers, WG-6605-10. Performs maintenance, repair, and inspections on the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components on armored vehicle turrets. Provides technical subordinate guidance and group leadership to the team. Responsibilities As a ARTILLERY REPAIRER LEADER, WL-6605-10, you will perform the following duties: (1) Assigns work orders to specific crewmembers and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Passes on to workers instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work. Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Works along with other workers and sets pace performing non-supervisory repair work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led. (2) Assures that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy. Checks work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions, work orders, and established shop procedures on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines; and directs or advises other workers to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Interprets work instructions and assists lower graded repairers or trainees in the more difficult and complex tasks. Provides information to the supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. (3) Repairs the hydraulic system, which provides the pressure to elevate and traverse the gun and rotate the turret. Repairs hydraulic valves which control the motion to ensure safety, these are controlled by electrical solenoids. Repairs the hydraulic motors, the elevating systems, the recoil systems and all other hydraulic parts and components in the turret. (4) Services the gun by exercising the recoil system to check for leaks in the seals. Borescopes the gun tube to check for wear. Makes recoil adapter readings to determine that the adapter and collar are serviceable. (5) May also work on ITVs, howitzers, and other less complex equipment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system operations. Experience demonstrating the ability to fit and adjust parts and assemblies. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. Education Additional Information ***If serving under an incentive contract, termination of that incentive(s) will occur effective one day prior to your AGR, Permanent Military Technician, or Indefinite Military Technician start date.
