Arts and Crafts Center Student Assistant Apply now (https://secure.dc4.pageuppeople.com/apply/674/gateway/default.aspx?c=apply&lJobID=534997&lJobSourceTypeID=796&sLanguage=en-us) Job no: 534997 Work type: Student Ast Location: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL) Categories: Recreation/Event Services, Student Services Department: 05110000 - RU-ARTS / CRAFTS CENTER Classification Title:STU AST-NON-CLERICAL & ADMIN Job Description: Student employees for this position must: + Be available to work Summer 2025 (both A & B) + Be a current UF degree seeking student registered at a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester + Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment + Participate in scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations + Have the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and academic breaks, as needed + Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism + Be a positive representative of the University of Florida and the Reitz Union + Be comfortable assisting large groups of people ranging from young adolescents to older adults + Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff Position Specific Responsibilities: + Commit to working at least 2 shifts (10 hours) per week + Maintain, organize, and inventory all equipment, materials and work spaces within the ACC + Oversee the paint-a-pot area, ensuring proper use and provide guidance to patrons + Assist and engage community members, as well as patrons during socials, camps, and classes + Manage customer transactions, including processing credit card payments and reconciling daily reports + Perform laundry and thorough daily cleaning to maintain a safe and organized studio + Process pottery orders and restock supplies as needed + Utilize Microsoft Teams and Excel for communication and administrative tasks + Monitor patrons using equipment to ensure they are using equipment safely + Complete all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion + Must be physically able to lift 25 pounds + Other duties as assigned Expected Salary: $13.00 per hour Minimum Requirements: This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through Other Personnel Services (OPS) or Federal Work-Study (FWS) and must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week. Summer 2025 (both A & B) availability is required. Preferred Qualifications: Although no experience is necessary to apply and all training will be provided, we prefer student employee candidates who: + Demonstrate creative abilities in various forms of crafting or art + Have previous experience with customer service + Are proficient in verbal and written communication + Exhibit prior cashier skills and reconciliation experience + Show a strong passion for crafting + Hold a CPR and First Aid Certification Special Instructions to Applicants: Summer of 2025 (both A & B) availability required.
