This is a full-time Asbestos Scientist 2 position located in Huntington Beach, CA, Monday - Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Receiving and processing high volumes of samples quickly and accurately.
· Preparation and analysis of bulk materials for asbestos content using PLM.
· Cleaning, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment.
· Performing QA/QC practices as specified in our QA/QC manual.
· Assist the QA Manager with data entry and documentation.
· Performs all duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of chemistry/biochemistry experience, including experience with complex programs or operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
· Conscientious and detail oriented, with good organizational skills.
· Ability to perform work in a lab or office setting, remain standing for long periods while conducting tests, work around strong smells, and wear personal protective equipment while handling samples (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses and gloves; all PPE provided by Pace®).
· Proficiency in high volume data entry with Excel and/or computer database.
· Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
· Experience using optical microscopy to identify minerals and other particles.
· Experience with analyzing samples using standard SOPs.
· Understanding of various testing tools, equipment, and calibration.

Work is performed in a lab and office setting. Work is subject to chemicals, fumes, gasses, noxious odors, and related items in a lab setting.
