Under general supervision, perform a variety of dispatch/communications and administrative activities to support the work functions of asphalt work crews in the field, and perform related duties as required. This position is non-exempt. Key Duties + Schedule and dispatch workers, equipment, or service vehicles and/or asphalt equipment. + Answers phones and responds to inquiries, complaints and emergency requests for services from internal customers and the public. + Monitors and tracks the daily trucking. + Requests and obtains required permits for asphalt projects. + Maintain contact with foremen of work crews to ensure work is progressing and arrange for additional resources as needed, and relay directives between office and the field. + Access records on various computer systems to maintain project records, update project spread sheets and work schedules. + Maintain records, logs, and schedules of the calls + Accept and track deliveries. + Other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements + General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Dispatcher. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees. Must have valid Florida’s driver’s license. Basic personal computer operations and applicable software to perform duties is required. + Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Dispatcher to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. + Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties. + Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 5 pounds personally, and up to 15 pounds with assistance. + If on a project site, maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment. + Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions. + Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Dispatcher encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. + Work is performed indoors and outdoors. + The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. + Employee will work near heavy equipment and moving machinery. + Employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold or heat.
