DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is actively seeking an Asphalt Concrete (Hot Mix) Technician to join our Arkansas Construction Services Team in Bentonville. The AC Inspector’s mission is to provide quality assurance to ensure that the asphalt materials produced for construction projects are per the requirements in the contract. 

Duties include but not limited to: 

Be responsible for Coordination and overseeing the repetitive and routine sampling and testing of component materials for highway and roadway construction projects in accordance with client policies and procedures and the construction contract documents.  Provide daily surveillance of the contractor’s quality control activities at the plant and/or project site and maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities. Witness contractor’s acceptance testing. Perform and check computations for mix properties (Specific Gravity, Voids, Mat/Joint Densities, PWL, etc.). Prepare reports showing results of materials testing, documentation of contractor’s test results, and verification of test results. Responsible for routing documentation of asphalt plant materials and testing to the engineer of record for estimate and material records. Must be able to interpret construction plans, standards, and specifications. On-site monitoring of plant and roadway operations.  Conduct work in a safe manner. 

  PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

2+ years of experience in Asphalt Materials inspection or plant operations.  Must be able to acquire Arkansas CTTP in Basic Aggregates and Asphalt Concrete within three (3) months. Current Arkansas CTTP certification is a plus. Must have excellent customer service skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid Arkansas driver’s license and pass an annual motor vehicle record check.  Proficient with Microsoft office programs including Word and Excel. Knowledge of AASHTO SiteManager system also a plus.
