This purpose of this position is successfully complete the compaction of the surface asphalt material to desired finish using specialized, high impact equipment such as a vibrator roller, one ton finish roller, hand roller, tamper, etc. Must have valid driver license and reliable transportation. This is a seasonal job April-November. Experience and Skills: + Prior to every use, evaluate the equipment and confirm that the equipment from a mechanical and safety standpoint is ready to use. + Frequently performs hand tamping jobs as appropriate on areas where the roller could not reach. + Follow safety procedures and participate in weekly toolbox meetings with asphalt crew. + Notify the maintenance department once a mechanical defect has been recognized. + Observes job sites to prior to paving to recognize problematic areas and to map out the paving lanes for maximized efficiency. + Must attend required safety classes. + Attend weekly Operational Training Classes. + Operate the roller equipment to facilitate movement, and elevation or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. + Maintaining a clean and presentable work environment at all times. + Follow the dress code and compliance of proper PPE at all times. + Must be available to work on Saturday and Sunday Asphalt Roller Operator Skills and Qualifications: The position should have knowledge of paving operations, equipment, quality control measures, and standard procedures. The position must have the ability to perform basic math skills and follow written and verbal instructions and relay them to the asphalt crew. Strong work ethic and willingness to work as a team to efficiently complete jobs to the highest customer satisfaction.
