**Job Title: Roller Operator**
**Job Description**
We are seeking qualified, motivated individuals to join our Asphalt paving crew. This role involves working on a variety of commercial and residential projects, including paving parking lots, grading cuts/fills, lot/land & tree clearing, utility work, footers and foundations, new home site construction, driveway construction, dirt and gravel roads, landslide repair, large/small retaining walls, storm water pipes & ponds, and underground storm water detention systems. The position averages 50 hours a week (10-hour days, Monday to Friday). You will meet at the Freeport yard and ride in a company truck to the job site, or go straight to the site if you live nearby. Steady work is available from late March to early April through the warm months.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment such as forklifts or passenger vehicles.
+ Use control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
+ Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or defects.
+ Use relevant information and judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards, and communicate abnormal working conditions to appropriate parties.
+ Meet company and customer specifications for all trench or backhoe jobs.
+ Expose underground utilities manually.
+ Conduct post-job quality checks.
+ Clean, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of equipment to ensure optimal safety and performance.
+ Communicate with the supervisor daily to submit required paperwork.
**Essential Skills**
+ Minimum 1-3 years of experience with asphalt work.
+ Experience operating heavy equipment and/or asphalt paving equipment.
+ Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
+ Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
+ Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
+ Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
+ Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ One (1+) plus years of experience in backhoe/mini excavator operation.
+ One (1+) plus years of experience digging and working around underground utilities.
+ Two (2+) plus years of demonstrated experience in dry utilities (preferred).
+ Experience reading basic prints and Underground Facility Location Sketch (preferred).
+ Ability to operate cranes, excavators, forklifts, bulldozers, dump trucks, backhoes, graders, and front-end loaders.
+ Class A CDL is preferred but not required (could lead to increased pay).

**Work Environment**
You will be working outside on job sites, engaging in tasks such as paving parking lots, grading cuts/fills, lot/land & tree clearing, utility work, footers and foundations, new home site construction, driveway construction, dirt and gravel roads, landslide repair, large/small retaining walls, storm water pipes & ponds, and underground storm water detention systems. The job requires physical endurance and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Freeport, Pennsylvania.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
