Who will you be working with?

Wabtec employees at the Grove City location operate in a team environment in the heavy industrial field of diesel locomotive engine maintenance. 

How will you make a difference?

The Assembly 1-Engine Technician role requires detail-oriented individuals with a focus on safety, who can perform high quality work in various assembly operations.  Our customers are reliant upon our engines to achieve a 20+ year lifespan.

What will your typical day look like?

Move and distribute parts, materials and assemblies using cranes, jitneys and/or other company vehiclesPerform engine component assembly and disassembly operations and inspectionsPerform painting operations for engines, sub-assemblies and piece partsUse inspection gauges, micrometers, depth gauges, calipers, etc.Operate DC tooling, torqueing and other assembly equipmentRepetitively utilize a variety of hand toolsPerform preventative maintenance and related minor maintenanceResponsible for the quality of work performed, from prescribed methods, quality and planning instruction in oral and/or written formPerform all other related duties as assigned

What do we want to know about you?

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior manufacturing experienceAutomotive or mechanical experienceAbility to read manufacturing blue printsUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing conceptsKnowledge of basic hand toolsExperience in the operation of overhead cranes and safe lifting proceduresPrior forklift operation experience
 

Minimum Requirements:

Must be 18 years of ageMust have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent, or minimum of 8 years of experienceMust pass background check and drug screenAbility to work occasional weekends as necessaryMust pass in-house Assembly 1 certification testing (Both written and hand’s-on)
 

What about the physical demands of the job?

Walking, climbing, stooping, bending.Wearing all required personal protective gear such as: steel toe boots, ear plugs, eye protection, and fall protection where required. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds.Required to operate heavy machinery, including but not limited to forklifts and cranes.Must be able to work in a tobacco free environment
