The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

The purpose of this position is: 

Assemble and test optical systems and sub-assemblies to precise specifications: Production jobs requiring basic skills. Jobs are performed in Assembly Department or Clean Room

 

This position includes significant duties such as:

Preparation of components; (including but not limited to painting, alodine, priming, and cleaning of non-optical surfaces Assembly of components per routers, drawings, and written procedures. Alignment of systems to meet specifications; Alignment of assemblies and in-process testing (basic interferometry and open optical testing) Processing and final testing of assemblies (i.e thermal cycling); preparation of assemblies for shipment to customer with supervision or involvement of Tech III. Accuracy of assembly is extremely critical because failure to follow proper technique may not be immediately apparent. Problem Solving with supervision only Good organizational skills and ability to be flexible with changing work demands. Attention to detail and quality paramount. DMAIC yellow belt training Flexibility to work to deadlines Must be self directed to work unsupervised for up to 1-2 days once set-ups have been established

 

Working Conditions:

Class 10000 cleanroom in most cases, class 1000 cleanroom in special cases Occasional heavy lifting with assistance Lifting of materials ranging from light to medium weight from possibly floor level to approximately 2 feet above bench height.

 

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent 2-3 years industrial experience Blue Print Reading and Basic Math Skills

The range for this position is ​$22.00 hourly rate - $24.93 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
