Assembly Technician
Job Title: Assembly Technician 1st Shift paying $25-$27/hr

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Assembly Technician to join our Industrial Product Equipment division. In this role, you will play a critical part in upgrading and assembling large diesel generators, contributing to high-quality production standards. This hands-on position requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and a commitment to excellence. All tools required for the assembly of our IPE generators are provided.

ResponsibilitiesAssemble components for industrial equipment, specifically large diesel generators weighing up to 12,000 lbs., following detailed instructions and established procedures.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring installation instructions, with experience in electrical blueprint reading considered a plus.Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to accurately fit and assemble parts. Tasks may include removing/installing lug nuts, drilling, manually tapping holes into mild steel, torque wrench operations, and wire continuity testing.Perform quality control inspections to identify and address any defects or inconsistencies, ensuring adherence to quality standards.Operate overhead cranes (up to a 10-ton capacity) as needed for assembly tasks.Operate sit-down style forklifts, up to 35,000 lb capacity to transfer generators, fuel tanks, and trailers to and from the IPE assembly bays.Maintain daily 5S practices specific to the IPE assembly division.Identify and troubleshoot minor assembly issues during production.Record production information and assembly details using basic computer systems.Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to efficiency improvements and cost-reduction ideas.Essential Skills1–3 years of manufacturing industry-related experience, preferably in machine assembly, automotive, or industrial manufacturing.Experience with mechanical assembly tasks and a strong understanding of general machine assembly processes.Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills for precise assembly tasks.Basic technical understanding of mechanical principles, blueprint reading, and forklift operation. Certification is preferred but not required.Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, kneel, and work in non-standard postures consistently throughout an 8–9 hour workday.Familiarity with data entry systems and basic computer skills.Ability to learn quickly, absorb instructions with minimal re-teaching, and remain open-minded to new ideas.Additional Skills & QualificationsBilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This is a new facility, previously the Tredegar Films plant. The workspace includes two separate areas for generator assembly, with ample storage and a parking lot filled with trailers for completed generators. The area is well-lit, equipped with four overhead cranes, and maintains a climate-controlled environment.
