Job Summary:
As part of the Operations team, the Assembly Test Technician ensures the quality and performance of Teledyne FLIR sUAS and payloads before shipping to our customers.
As an Assembly Test Technician, you will:
• Debug test fails both at Assembly and PCB level for Fresh Production and RMA Systems.
• Dis-assemble electrical and mechanical components and systems as required to completed debug.
• Test electrical and mechanical components and systems.
• Use Test and Investigation equipment such as: Multi-meter, Oscilloscope, Microscope, Power supplies, Thermal Chambers, and X-Ray Machine to completed failure investigations.
• Complete deep dive investigation including debugging electrical circuits down to component level.
• Maintain failure data and update Test Yield Pareto and KPI Charts.
• Create debug guides, and other technical documentation such as test work instructions as required.
• Create automated software tools to improve debug efficiency.
• Provide real-time feedback and analysis of repeat assembly fails to Production Operators.
• Collaborate with other functional teams during deep dive investigations.
• Provide feedback to engineering and operations groups regarding trends in defective components, software issues, functional issues, and assembly faults.
• Perform component swap tests and conduct DOEs.
• Complete repair strategies for trending issues.
• Assist in product validation and flight testing when required.
• Provide hands-on training to other Assembly Test Technician and Production Operators.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years’ experience in a debug, test technician, or engineering role.
• Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residence to pass the Controlled Good Program requirements.
• Mechatronics background is an asset.
• Ability to read Circuit Diagrams, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Ability to solve problems from symptom to root cause using one of the structured methodologies (such as A3, DMAIC, 8 Steps of Problem Solving, RCCA, etc.).
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing concepts (5S, 8 Wastes, Kaizen, Standardized Work, RCCA, A3).
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
• PCBA – IPC inspection an asset.
• Soldering skills an asset.
• Familiarity with hand assembly tools.
