**Job Title: Assembly Worker** **Job Description** This position brazes and bonds together components to assemble metal parts as specified by layout, work order, or blueprints, using a hand torch. The role involves aligning and clamping work pieces together using a ruler, square, or template, or setting them up in fixtures, jigs, or a vise. Responsibilities include cleaning joints of work pieces using a wire brush or by dipping them into a cleaning solution, selecting the appropriate torch tip, flux, and brazing alloy from data charts or work orders, and connecting hoses from the torch to regulator valves and cylinders of specified fuel gas, acetylene, or natural gas. The assembly worker will turn valves to start the flow of gases, light the flame, and adjust the pressure and mixture of gases to obtain the desired color and size of the flame. Additional tasks include brushing flux onto the joint of the work piece or dipping the braze rod into flux to prevent oxidation of the metal, guiding the torch and rod along the joint or seam of the work piece to heat to brazing temperature, and melting the braze alloy to bond work pieces together.
