**Your Opportunity**
An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, personable, and very organized Team Lead (TL) for our Assessment and Permitting (A&P) team within our Environmental Services Business Centre. You will report directly to the Business Center Operations Leader and will work closely with other leadership and team leads. As a TL, you will form a key part of the BC’s leadership team and will help grow our business through ongoing recruitment, retention and development of staff.

**Your Team Lead Key Responsibilities**
+ Daily operational management of up to 15 A&P professionals
+ Communication of the organization’s operational expectations and execution of the strategic vision of the team
+ Resource planning and management of team by monitoring staff utilization and availability
+ Work with team members to align their professional challenges with their career plans and business goals
+ Coach and mentor your team for performance and career development
+ Conduct Goal Setting and Performance Review process for team members and work with BC leadership to make sure training plans and performance targets are identified and met
+ Maintain a focus on recognition and morale building within the team and planning staff appreciation initiatives
+ Provide on-going performance evaluation and targeted constructive feedback to team and initiate performance management when needed
+ Collaborate with safety personnel and leadership to support mandatory training requirements of team members
+ Initiate and chair A&P team meetings
+ Attend regular TL meetings with leadership and Human Resources
+ Contribute to compensation, leadership level, career level and job category discussions
+ Lead or participate with recruiting and onboarding of new personnel through identifying potential candidates, reviewing resumes and participating in the interview process
+ Work with the team to drive new technical initiatives or service lines
+ Leading by example to promote a positive and progressive team safety culture
+ Being an agent of change in the team and Business Centre
+ Participate in project work as part of the A&P team and achieve 65% utilization
**Your Project Key Responsibilities**
+ Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, standards and guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSE professionals during the execution of all project phases
+ Work directly with clients to provide strategic environmental advice
+ Drive project delivery with a key focus on efficient execution, project controls, and safety
+ Work in a collaborative team of technical environmental and engineering specialists to lead the approval and permitting process
+ Prepare and review environmental assessments, regulatory applications and technical submissions
+ Contribute to proposals, pre- qualifications, and relationship building with existing and prospective clients
+ Communicate and collaborate with other environmental and regulatory specialists to ensure consistency in project execution
+ Support the development of junior and intermediate staff
+ Participate in team and independent based work
+ Take part in on the job learning and professional development opportunities
+ Support and encourage technical training.
+ Facilitate collaboration with team members to meet schedules.
+ Lead or support business development activities, including proposals (budget development and proposal writing) and relationship building with existing and prospective clients
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
* Proven experience and ability to lead a diverse group of individuals in a fast-paced dynamic work environment
* Dynamic leader with the ability to work collaboratively and motivate people toward a shared vision
* Creative, solutions-focused thinker with strong inter-personal and communication (written and verbal) skills
* Active and empathetic listener, experienced in navigating difficult personal and professional conversations aimed at a positive and productive outcome
* Committed and supportive delegator who is highly organized, able to multi-task and prioritize
* Confident and collaborative decision maker
* Open and honest communicator with proven ability to provide positive and constructive feedback to staff
* Possess strong conflict resolution and communication skills
* Previous leadership or management experience is desirable
* Understanding and applied knowledge working under provincial and federal legislation (e.g., Water Act, Public Lands Act, Environmental Protection and
Enhancement Act, Fisheries Act, Canadian Navigable Waters Act and Municipal Government Act.)
* Current membership with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists (ASPB), or other professional designations (either as in training or full member)
* Understanding of municipal political environment
* Possess strong conflict resolution and communication skills
**Education and Experience**
* Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in environmental or natural sciences
* Minimum 5 years of relevant environmental experience
* Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulations and guidelines
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
