What you will be doing

Provide positive/proactive leadership and instruction in Security/Asset Protection.  Promote workable, realistic Asset Protection programs that foster a safe working environment for our Supply Chain associates, as well as protecting Company assets.  This will be accomplished while preventing crime and loss to the Company through policies and procedures, use of technology, strategies, and training programs within the scope of Albertsons’s core values, while working closely with Supply Chain Operations and Division level associates.

The position will be based in Boise, Idaho, or one of our main regional offices or distribution center offices: Anchorage DC, Auburn DC, Brea DC, Denver DC, Irvine DC, Kent DC, Las Vegas DC, Lancaster DC, Lubbock DC, Melrose DC, Meridian DC, Methuen DC, Ponca City DC, Portland DC, Roanoke DC, Salt Lake City DC, Spokane DC.

Main responsibilities

Strong dotted line reporting to Distribution Center General Managers Directs the security and Asset Protection function at the designated distribution centers Protects associates, visitors, and Company property against theft, illegal entry, and illegal activities. Promotes adherence to Company policies/procedures; familiarize associates with Company rules and regulations. Maintains formal and informal channels of communication through the organization. Encourages the expression of new ideas, suggestions, and constructive criticism. Crisis Management:  24/7 responsibility to respond to all Supply Chain and Support Center emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned by corporate management.

Distribution security:

Manages, tests, and maintains physical security systems, including, but not limited to CCTV, intrusion alarms, fire alarms, access control, proper lighting levels, adequate fencing and perimeter control to comply with FDA, DEA, and Customs recommendations and requirements. Ensures compliance with established procedures regarding high value merchandise/cages. Conducts and/or coordinates the security inspection of all facilities, including after hours. Conducts and/or coordinates the security inspection of distribution security processes, including Seals, Padlock, Access, Shipping Audits, Load Integrity, Shipping and Receiving Controls, Driver Performance via Company GPS tracking, etc. Identifies security risks and develops remediation plans for controlling inventory and unauthorized entry. Develops programs that educate and create awareness of shrink and security controls. Develops short and long-term Supply Chain Asset Protection strategies and implements initiatives that provide a safe working environment and protects Company assets from theft and losses. Maintains compliance with all FDA, DEA, and Customs/Homeland Security recommendations and requirements. Manages and/or conducts audits at all DC's. Oversees other audits and internal control processes as applicable; Reports findings to Supply Chain management. Develops and implements comprehensive security plans during periods of labor disputes.

Investigations and legal proceedings:

Manages, coordinates, and conducts all Asset Protection investigations within the scope of responsibility including, but not limited to theft, burglary, threats, violence, sexual harassment, EEOC violations, and Wage and Hour issues, while working closely with and reporting investigation findings to Labor Relations, Human Resources, and Legal. Represents the Company at arbitration and hearings, unemployment, EEOC, OSHA, Workers Compensation, and General Liability claims, union hearings, and civil suits as appropriate. Acts as liaison for the following:  Corporate Counsel, Labor Relations/Human Resources, Government Agencies, Operations Personnel, Law Enforcement Agencies, Community Groups, Outside Agencies, and Judicial Agencies. Provides expert testimony in designated civil or criminal litigation.

Safety:

Ensures facility compliance regarding fire and safety standards established by the Safety Department and local regulations. Assists the Safety Department in the implementation of programs designed to create a safe work environment. Assists in accident investigations, as necessary. Maintains a close working relationship with the Safety Department. Assists and conducts tornado, fire, and other crisis drills

The salary range is $62,700 to $81,540 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay (accrued based on hours worked), PTO/Vacation Pay (accrued based on hours worked) or Flexible Time Off, paid holidays (8-9 days annually), bereavement pay, and retirement benefits (such as 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position are also eligible for a quarterly bonus.

What we are searching for 

College degree or equivalent work experience. 3-5 years’ experience as a District Loss Prevention Manager. Knowledge of city, county, and state penal codes, particularly those laws related, but not limited to theft, arrest, courtroom demeanor, etc. Possess the initiative to help create and nurture a world class Loss Prevention Team through training programs, promotion of the Department, identification of high achievers, etc. Possess the ability to motivate work with and through others to achieve desired results. Must have the ability to represent the Company's interest to outside parties. General knowledge of office computer programs. Possess effective communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to make effective presentations before groups.  Possess strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of people, both in person and over the telephone. Requires analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities. Possess the ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions. Must be multi-task oriented. Travel requirements of 70-80% of time to Distribution Centers and Corporate as needed

Physical Environment

Work is conducted in a temperature-controlled office environment, as well as warehouse facilities, and some time is spent outdoors. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal, as well as walk through warehouses and outdoor areas. Incumbent may use calculators, computer terminals, telephones, and other office/security equipment during normal workdays. Must have own transportation and be available for overnight travel.
