Team Description: 

The AM Private Finance team within AWM division has responsibility for the weekly Management Committee report, annual planning process and associated quarterly reforecasts, month-end management reporting process, monthly review of direct/variable expenses and allocations, management of divisional P&L, as well as various regulatory reporting. Day to day work includes a broad range of regular tasks, project-based work and ad hoc analyses.

Position Description:

The successful applicant will be working closely with a Managing Director, three VPs, and Analysts, and our counterparts on the AM Public and WM Finance teams.  The role will be focused on overseeing coordination of month-end close, month-end reporting, weekly Management Committee reporting, internal allocations analysis, regulatory-related requests, and annual planning and quarterly forecasts. It will involve a significant amount of analytical work and strong skills in this area are vital. The successful applicant will have a strong focus on detail, an ability to understand financial information, draw relationships and raise issues or concerns. Applicants should be highly motivated and client-focused.  Knowledge of Essbase/SmartView and Anaplan would be a significant advantage.

Principle Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities are likely to vary over time but will include:

Spearheading the weekly AM Private Management Committee Package on various KPI metrics while working with various groups to ensure reporting accuracyOverseeing coordination of monthly P&L and Balance sheet closes with Controllers, Technology and other AM Private teamsPreparation of month-end financial reports to AWM senior management (both regular and ad-hoc)Assist in liaising with Corporate Planning & Management team, AM Controllers, as well as Private Risk & Structuring team to ensure that revenue, expenses, and business metrics are properly booked and reportedMonth-end analysis relating to internal allocationsWorking with Engineering and Controllers to streamline reporting as well as creation of more robust reporting toolsSupporting AWM’s annual planning process, quarterly forecasts, and Business Planning Committee presentationsPull together various analyses required as part of the firm’s regulatory obligations to the Fed

Necessary Qualifications and Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business discipline2-4 years working experience, accounting/finance relatedExcellent analytical/quantitative skills and strong attention to detailStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent coordination and organizational skillsAbility to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressureAbility to manage, organize and analyze large volumes of informationStrong Excel, Word, Powerpoint skills will be important – knowledge of Essbase/SmartView and Anaplan would be a significant advantageTeam player – willing to pick up and help in areas not explicitly related to job dutiesHighly motivated, self-starter, able to multi-taskAbility to work independently in a small team
