JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox News is looking for a Satellite Desk Assignment Editor to work in the DC Bureau. The Satellite Desk is responsible for transmission scheduling for Fox News and Fox Business and all Fox News Media clients. The Satellite Desk also manages relationships with hundreds of studios and transmission providers worldwide. The Satellite Desk's mission is to move video quickly and cost-effectively on behalf of our clients. As the Satellite Desk Assignment Editor, you will book all the feeds to and from Fox Bureaus, affiliates, and the major hubs in New York and Washington. 

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitate studio bookings

Work with guest bookers to secure the most reliable and cost-effective facilities

Manage all Fox News transmission assets including fiber lines, live circuits, leased satellite transponder capacity, uplinks, and downlinks

Manage work order management system to ensure that contact information, routing details, and costs are up to date

Work with the Assignment Desk and Field Operations to secure and deploy resources whenever there is breaking news

Proactively secure resources in the field

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience 

2+ years of Satellite Desk or Assignment Desk, or news media experience

Basic knowledge of satellite, fiber, teleport, and IP transport technologies

Experience in broadcast or affiliate news services is a plus

Good editorial judgment as well as strong logistical and organizational skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and intense environment

Motivated, self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Ability to multi-task and prioritize is a necessity

Ability to work flexible hours including nights, overnights, and weekends

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $67,000.00-80,000.00 annually for Washington, D.C. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
