Shangri-La Golf Club and Resort

Shangri-La is located at the tip of Monkey Island in northeast Oklahoma in the center of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. Shangri-La offers 27 holes of golf, including the Champions Nine, Heritage Nine, and the Legends Nine, and is also in the process of building a new 18-hole Par 3 course scheduled to open in the Spring of 2023. The new Par 3 course will be called the Battlefield.

The 27-hole course has Tyee/007 greens and Bermuda grass on all tees, fairways, and rough. The new par 3 Battlefield greens will be seeded with 7-7-7 Bent grass and 25 acres of Tahoma will populate tees, fairways and approaches. All courses are irrigated with the Rainbird Cirrus system. Shangri La has a new Turf Center that includes a new Mechanic work area, offices, and chemical mix load/storage barn.

Shangri-La is looking for a candidate that is motivated and leads by example. The Assistant Superintendent will assist with day-today operations of the maintenance staff, plan projects, handle all record keeping and provide feedback to the Superintendent.

Responsibilities

· Daily task assignments for the staff using Task Tracker

· Course Set-up

· Chemical and Fertilizer applications

· Training Staff on all equipment and task

· Irrigation repairs

· Payroll

· Operations of Turfbreeze fans and Subair

· Basic Knowledge of the Clubhouse, Resort, Activity Center and housing irrigation systems

· Communication with Pro Shop

Job Requirements

· Motivated and self-starting individual who has an eye for detail

· Willing and able to work in all weather conditions

· Work a flexible work schedule due to weather or events

· Computer skills-Microsoft Office

· Experience with Bentgrass greens management

· Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in Golf course maintenance

· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management preferred
