DescriptionThe Suthar laboratory within the Emory Vaccine Center (EVC) at the Emory National Primate Research Center (EPC), is seeking a full time Assistant Academic Research Scientist to join our lab.
The Suthar laboratory studies immunity to emerging viral infections. We use in vitro and in vivo models to understand the host and viral factors that control immunity and infection outcome. This position will directly involve supporting ongoing research efforts to characterize vaccine formulations, evaluate immune responses in humans and mice, and determine protection against viral infection. For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated, collaborative, productive and energetic individual who can assist with laboratory assays, cell culture, molecular biology, and various immune assays (ELISAs, flow cytometry, Mesoscale Discovery, B cell analysis). This position requires the ability to lead a project, analyze data and help with writing papers. Previous laboratory experience is desired (2-5 years’ experience), will need to work with mice, and BSL3/ABSL3 experience is preferred but not required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties will include but are not limited to experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and communication of results of basic and/or translational research. Will be required to reviews literature and apply advanced knowledge, skills, and input necessary for protocol development. May assist in grant and other funding applications, as necessary and appropriate. Performs other responsibilities as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD or MD OR Master's degree and five years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab. Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience for this job classification. Laboratory experience will be based on area of assignment.NOTE: Applicants applying with a M.D. or equivalent degree must be eligible for a Georgia medical license to meet the minimum qualifications.PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.Handling and performing mouse dissections.Highly motivated.Ability to manage concurrent tasks and deadlines.Ability to work well with others.WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
