Assistant/Associate Director of Global Learning
The Assistant/Associate Director of Global Learning reports to the Director of Global Learning and plays a key role in managing health, risk, and safety of students and employees participating in global learning activities. This position is a critical member of the Global Learning team and will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with faculty and staff across campus. Key Responsibilities: Health, Safety, Wellness Management For Academic Year Off-Campus Study and Summer Research funded by Academic Affairs: + Provide expert leadership in managing all student health and safety and emergency management for Hamilton programs abroad, for students on provider programs during the academic year, and for summer research funded by Academic Affairs. + Provide online and/or in-person pre-departure orientation sessions to students and faculty participating in Hamilton programs, approved international/domestic off-campus programs, and independent research and maintain records verifying pre-departure content and participation. + Work with campus partners (e.g., Student Affairs, Accessibility Office, Experiential Learning, etc.) and external partners to address student concerns and needs abroad prior to departure. + Work with campus partners and in-country staff to provide a coordinated response to student issues abroad: housing, academic, health/safety, financial issues, and parent concerns. + Develop/review relevant agreements with partner organizations/program/providers in matters concerning risk, health, safety for programs during the academic year (including January Admit students abroad). + Act as main Hamilton emergency contact for program providers. + Foster relationships with program providers and maintain regular communication with partners about student support needs. + Act as primary point of contact for GeoBlue in cases of student illness/injury, optimization of insurance benefits, and repatriation. + Establish internal communications protocols for Global Learning, in partnership with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs. + Provide timely information and advice to relevant college officials and coordinate outbound communication concerning off-campus emergencies with Communications Office and relevant participating offices. + Maintain up-to-date health and safety information on the Global Learning website. + Monitor risk notification services. + Serve on relevant college committees. + Maintain detailed records of student incidents, parent communication, and partner emergency response. For Faculty-led International trips/programs: + Develop guidelines for submission and review of proposals to lead international programs in collaboration with campus partners. + Establish standards, manage and coordinate travel providers/agency agreements pertaining to faculty-led trips. + Contribute to development of policies, guidelines and criteria for development of risk compliant international off campus programs. + Provide online and/or in-person pre-departure faculty training sessions. + Support faculty in managing Via TRM application process. Study Abroad Advising + Advise students about academic, research, and experiential learning opportunities abroad. + Maintain up to date knowledge of best advising practices in the field for professional development and to assist in training and supporting the Global Learning team. + Work with the Global Learning team to handle any advising issues and provide regular updates to the Director. + Contribute to the continuous improvement of Study Abroad Advising through collegial collaboration across institutional administrative offices including ALEX colleagues. + Maintain regular communication with program representatives to stay informed of program updates and other information that affects student advising. Provide Hamilton updates to program representatives as needed. + Manage the annual review of the advising cycle to maintain integration and alignment with student learning outcomes and advising objectives. This includes coordinating the review of study abroad evaluations and working with the Director to prepare any reports related to advising. + Contribute to the implementation and mentoring of Global Learning Peer Advisors. Other Functions + Actively participate and contribute to Global Learning events and programming. + Perform other related duties as assigned. This is an exempt position with a pay range of $60,406 - $66,200 for an Assistant Director and $66,201 - $72,500 for an Associate Director. Required: + Minimum two years experience in health, safety, risk and crisis management and/or focus on student health and safety. + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. + Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds. + Ability to dependably execute projects with little supervision in a pressured and deadline-oriented environment. + Masters degree or equivalent professional experience in the field of international education and/or higher education. + Strong proficiency with software applications. + Ability to travel internationally to perform site visits. Preferred: + Demonstrated commitment and experience to integrative advising. + Knowledge or proficiency in a second language. + Personal or professional experience living abroad. + Knowledge and skills pertaining to the use of social media as an outreach tool, digital storytelling, or related competencies.
