Assistant/Associate/Full Instructional Professor

Job Description:

The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure track, full-time, position at all ranks in the Lecturer series (Working titles of Instructional Assistant, Instructional Associate or Full Instructional Professor). The position’s anticipated start date is no later than Fall 2025.

Duties and responsibilities include teaching, revising, and developing undergraduate engineering courses and laboratories/facilities in the following areas: Computer Aided Design, Additive Manufacturing Laboratory; Mechanical or Aerospace Capstone Design and Realization; Design and Manufacturing Laboratory; and other related aspects of mechanical and/or aerospace engineering. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in department, university, and professional service activities and educational research activities.

The MAE department is specifically looking for candidates with a passion for teaching and a desire to develop and/or continue a career in the pedagogy of experiential engineering education. The MAE department is committed to helping students develop the cultural competencies necessary to lead in the modern global workforce. Candidates who promote and foster a collaborative and welcoming classroom environment are highly desirable. Additionally, the ability and desire of candidates to work closely with other faculty in a team approach to instruction delivery, curriculum, and facility development is important.

The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida (https://mae.ufl.edu/) has over 60 faculty members working in all aspects of mechanical and aerospace engineering and is expected to grow in upcoming years. The total student population is approximately 2700 with nearly 200 in the Ph.D. program. Recent US News & World Report has MAE ranked as 16th and 19th for the aerospace and mechanical engineering programs, respectively, among graduate engineering public universities in the US. The University of Florida is ranked as the #7 Best Public US University according to US News & World Report.

Expected Salary:

Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate is expected to have a minimum of an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering Technology with prior industrial and/or instructional experience in related fields or hands-on educational setting.
