Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in International Health
The Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health invites applications for the recruitment of up to four tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor positions. The Department seeks to improve the health and well-being of individuals in underserved and disadvantaged areas of the world, including the US. The department's interests and areas of expertise span a wide range, organized around four academic program areas: Global Disease Epidemiology and Control, Health Systems, Human Nutrition, and Social and Behavioral Interventions. This search is not focused on a specific area of interest but is casting a broad net with a view to attracting the best candidates working in global health areas prioritized by the Department's new Strategic Plan. We are particularly interested in early career applicants at the assistant professor rank and will prioritize emerging leaders whose experience and skills align with the strategic priorities of the department. This is an international search and candidates with relevant qualifications are encouraged to apply regardless of where they reside. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service or strong potential for excellence in these areas if early in their career. Roles and Responsibilities The tenure-track faculty will be engaged in teaching, advising master's, PhD and/or DrPH students, leading independent population-relevant research including seeking extramural funding, and providing service to the profession and the institution. Applicants should have a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, or other relevant Doctorate) in fields that range from epidemiology, health systems, health economics, nutrition, behavioral sciences or other fields relevant to global health. The candidates appointed to these positions may also combine field and laboratory experience. Key attributes include success in peer-reviewed publications, experience or demonstrated potential for obtaining extramural funding, proven records of public health research and/or practice in global health, and experience teaching courses in one or more topic areas relevant to global health (appropriate to rank). The candidates must be committed to advising graduate students and mentoring post-doctoral fellows. Success working collaboratively as part of a team, with demonstrated or potential leadership skills and engagement in service to the profession is desirable. The Department of International Health is one of the largest departments at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, with over 270 doctoral and master's students and a diverse research program across four academic concentration areas led by over 250 faculty.
