Job Summary The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for three (3) tenure-track positions (2 assistant professor rank and 1 assistant/associate rank beginning in August 2025 with requirements to be physically present on the Hattiesburg campus. We aim to recruit applicants who will emphasize training students to become productive and thoughtful researchers and practitioners. Area of research interest is open. This position will support programs both within the School of Education including the Ph.D. in Research, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment program. These The programs within the School of Education include master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees. Courses include face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery formats. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the mission of the School of Education at the graduate level. Primary Duties and Responsibilities + Teaching and mentoring graduate students in research classes across programs. + Contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities. + Conducting and disseminating high-quality independent research + Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications For Assistant Professor rank: A Ph.D. degree in Educational Research, Educational Psychology, or closely related field (by August 2025). For Associate Professor rank: A Ph.D. degree in Education Research, Educational Psychology, or closely related field AND 5 years of experience in a tenure track position or equivalent along with e vidence of research success reflected in scholarship and funding history. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities + Experience setting clear performance expectations and provision of meaningful feedback. + Experience and/or familiarity with technology use, particularly in the online learning environment. + Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, concise and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner to a diverse population. Preferred Qualifications For Assistant Professor rank: + Experience teaching graduate educational and interdisciplinary research and/or statistics courses. + Experience in measurement, program evaluation, data science, machine learning, survey and mixed methods research, or other quantitative areas + Experience mentoring student research.
