The Primary Role of this position is to provide comprehensive primary care to our UT Health RGV Space X Location in Boca Chica, Brownsville, TX serving the members, relatives of all ages and community of that region. The Faculty member is expected to maintain an outpatient clinical practice that may include supervision of residents and advanced practitioners and teaching of medical students. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with academic experience and credentials. Minimum Qualifications Current Board certification in Family Medicine, possess/able to obtain a valid Texas medical license, and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Primary & Community Care. Demonstration of ability in educational and evaluation methods. Experience in managing diverse relationships and integration activities with medical staff and a strong reputation for sustained inclusive, trust-based physician relations. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Three (3) years of experience in outstanding clinical practice, preferably in an academic setting with demonstration of strong leadership skills, and success in teaching residents and medical students. Bilingual/Medical Spanish is preferred but not required. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code ยง51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
