York College, founded in 1966, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. The College also offers six graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, Social Work and Nursing Education.

The School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs (SHSPP) at York College/CUNY invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Health & Human Performance, specializing in Public Health (any sub-discipline). This position will be appointed at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning in Fall 2025.
As the only Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited Standalone Baccalaureate Program (SBP) in the University, this position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated and accomplished professional to take on a key leadership role in shaping the undergraduate Public Health Program. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the program’s ongoing development, assessment, and accreditation efforts while advancing the mission of York College through teaching, research, and service.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
+ Program Leadership: A capacity for guiding and strengthening the public health program through curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation reporting, and strategic initiatives. Experience leading and collaborating within a team of faculty and administrators is highly valued.
+ Project Management: Experience participating in the management of higher education programs is essential. The ability to navigate administrative processes, problem-solve, and implement programmatic initiatives effectively is highly desirable.
+ Teaching and Mentorship: A commitment to engaging and effective teaching, as well as mentoring a diverse student population, including many first-generation college students.
+ Service and Collaboration: Active involvement in departmental, school, college, and university service, as well as contributions to advancing the public health discipline through professional service and leadership.
+ Diversity and Equity: A commitment to supporting diverse student populations, including first-generation, part-time, and non-traditional students, through inclusive teaching and mentorship.
+ Dedication to community engagement, justice, and access to education, research, and service.
+ Research Excellence: A well-defined research agenda with the potential to secure extramural funding and make meaningful contributions to the field of public health.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
+ Program Oversight: Contribute to the leadership and success of the public health program, ensuring it meets and exceeds the standards required for CEPH accreditation.
+ Teaching and Mentoring: Teach core and elective courses in public health, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, and measurement and evaluation in health. Provide academic advising and mentoring to support student achievement and professional growth.
+ Research and Scholarship: Develop and sustain a research program that results in high-quality publications, presentations, and efforts to secure extramural funding.
+ Curricular Development and Accreditation: Lead efforts to innovate and enhance course offerings, participate in program assessment, and prepare accreditation reports to maintain CEPH standards.
+ Service and Collaboration: Actively engage in departmental, school, college, community, and university service while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing public health initiatives.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Ph.D. in Public Health, Health Education, or a closely related field (or equivalent terminal degree).
+ Demonstrate teaching excellence, including experience in curriculum development, student mentoring, and academic advising.
+ Show evidence of effective service to the academic community and the public health profession.
+ Have a strong commitment to advancing equity and diversity through teaching, research, and service.
+ Exhibit the ability to navigate administrative processes, problem-solve, and implement programmatic initiatives effectively is highly desirable.
**COMPENSATION**

Assistant Professor / Associate Professor - Salary Range $86,645 - $90,375
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
