We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in the following areas of Hispanic/Latinx mental health and clinical psychology: clinical neuropsychology, psychological assessment, social determinants of mental health/disparities, trauma, neurodevelopment, or diversity research. The department offers a PhD program in clinical psychology that uses a scientist-practitioner model, a MA program in clinical and experimental psychology, and Major in psychology. The department trains students at its Psychology Clinic, which offers both in-house clinical practicum training and research space for students and faculty. The candidate will be a core faculty member in the clinical psychology Ph.D. program which is accredited on contingency by the American Psychological Association. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain an active program of research, seek extramural research funding, teach graduate level courses in the PhD program, mentor graduate students in the PhD program in clinical psychology, and serve as a clinical supervisor to students. Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications for hire vary by rank. -Assistant Professor: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in psychology from an APA -accredited university. ABDs will be considered but applicant must have an earned doctorate in psychology by August 31, 2025. Applicants must present evidence of active research that includes publications in peer-reviewed journals; potential to effectively teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; potential to supervise and mentor clinical and research activities of students; potential to maintain active programmatic research, and potential to obtain external grant funding. - Associate Professor: Beyond the above requirements, requirements include a demonstrated ability to independently conduct programmatic research activities that meet the departmental and institutional requirements for the rank of associate professor with tenure; and a high degree of teaching proficiency and commitment to professional service. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APA -accredited university (or be ABD with the expectation of holding a doctorate before the position start date) and APA -accredited predoctoral internship, with preference for candidates with doctoral training in clinical or counseling psychology. Preferred Qualifications We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: clinical neuropsychology, psychological assessment, social determinants of mental health/disparities, trauma, neurodevelopment, or diversity research. Currently licensed as a psychologist in the State of Texas or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas, and ability to supervise students who are acquiring Texas licensure ( if eligible but not yet licensed, must have a clear plan for achieving licensure in the state of Texas within two years of starting. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
