The new hire will join an internationally recognized department with a dynamic faculty and top ranked musical theatre program that celebrates a highly vetted student population with a <2.6% acceptance rate. We are dedicated to a collaborative and innovative approach to teaching undergraduate and graduate students that prioritizes contemporary professional standards in all casting, recruitment, classroom, and production environments. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Teach a course load of 3/3, with courses tailored to the candidate’s strengths. Potential courses may include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre Dance, and Musical Theatre History. + Choreograph at least one musical per year as part of the department’s mainstage season. + Serve as Co-Head of the Musical Theatre Area, with responsibilities including: + Student recruitment and audition management. + Curriculum Development + Fundraising initiatives for the program. + Mentorship and advising of students. + Collaborating with faculty to facilitate co-curricular initiatives. + Engaging and working with industry professionals and guest artists. + Contributing to the development and evolution of the program and the department. + Building and maintaining relationships with alumni, donors, and parents. + Other department and/or university service may be assigned in accordance with rank. Required Qualifications Required qualifications for Assistant Professor Rank (Tenure Line): • MFA in related field • Professional experience in the musical theatre industry. This can include Broadway, International Productions, National Tours, Regional, and/or Commercial Theatre. • Demonstrated teaching experience in dance, with a proven track record in dance studios or universities. • Proven proficiency in choreographing musicals. Required qualifications for Associate Professor Rank (Tenure Line): • MFA in related field • Minimum of 7 years of professional in the musical theatre industry. This can include Broadway, International Productions, National Tours, Regional, and/or Commercial Theatre. • Demonstrated teaching experience in dance, with a proven track record in dance studios or universities. • Proven proficiency in choreographing musicals. Required qualifications for Assistant Professor of Practice Rank: • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the musical theatre industry. This can include Broadway, International Productions, National Tours, Regional, and/or Commercial Theatre. • Demonstrated teaching experience in dance, with a proven track record in dance studios or universities. • Proven proficiency in choreographing musicals. Required qualifications for Associate Professor of Practice Rank: • Minimum of 12 years of professional experience in the musical theatre industry. This can include Broadway, International Productions, National Tours, Regional, and/or Commercial Theatre. • Demonstrated teaching experience in dance, with a proven track record in dance studios or universities. • Proven proficiency in choreographing musicals. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and school established standards. Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications: · Knowledge of the current professional musical theatre industry necessary for pre-professional training. · Existing relationships with industry professionals. · Experience mentoring students at the collegiate level. · Exceptional communication skills and a strong ability to work collaboratively. · Demonstrated administrative skills and leadership in an academic or artistic setting. · Documented creative research in the field of musical theatre choreography. · Documented professional recognition (e.g., awards, honors, reviews). · Undergraduate degree in a related field. · Collegiate level teaching experience.
