Job Description

Position Details:  The Assistant/Associate Professor of OPP reports to the Department Chair of OPP and has responsibility for, but not limited to, the following:

ACOM OPP Lab and Lecture Responsibilities: 

Design and deliver comprehensive course material in the field of OPP to ACOM students.Facilitate engaging and effective classroom teaching, as well as individualized instruction outside of class.Assist in the supervision of Fellows and Teaching Assistants as appropriate.Develop OPP assessments for labs and lectures. Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate evaluations to students and colleagues.

ACOM Clinic Responsibilities:

Provide students with instruction in Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP), including both observation and hands-on application of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM).Collaborate with the Medical Director of ACOM Clinics and clinic staff to schedule student activities.Coordinate with the Chair of OPP to align student assignments and clinical experiences effectively.Offer feedback and support during students' clinical interactions.Administer OMM care to clinic patients, involving students at suitable levels of competence.Monitor student development through rounds, clinical training, one-on-one discussions, OPP didactics, and assessment of assignments.Collaborate with other clinical educators to evaluate students' clinical performance and provide formative feedback.Regularly meet with clinical educators, including OPP Fellows, to assess and enhance the learning experience.Adapt clinic duties based on college needs as evaluated periodically.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:  

Engage in scientific research or scholarly activities, leading to publication in relevant journals.Contribute to the department, college, and profession through active participation and service.Attend professional and scientific conferences to enhance personal knowledge and contribute to professional development.Prepare and present lectures and presentations at local/regional/national conferences.Conduct applicant and faculty interviews for the DO program upon request.Participate in college and faculty committees in leadership and membership capacities.Fulfill the role of course director as assigned by the Associate Dean and/or OPP Chair.Perform other duties as directed by the Associate Dean and/or OPP Chair.
