**Job Summary**
The Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor. This position typically involves teaching five engineering courses per academic year on the Western Colorado University campus in Gunnison and is anticipated to begin in the Fall 2025 semester.
Required courses to be taught are Component Design, Manufacturing Systems and Processes, and Senior Capstone Design. Possible future teaching needs include Aerospace Engineering and/or Biomedical Engineering courses. Additional course needs will arise; the candidate should be comfortable developing and teaching these new courses. The candidate will also be expected to provide professional service, including student club advising, assisting with ABET (engineering program accreditation), program recruiting and continuous improvement, student professional development, and other service-related activities. Interested candidates may have the opportunity to serve in a leadership role as Associate Director or Co-Director.
This is a non-tenure track appointment and may be renewable. The successful candidate will likely be appointed as an Assistant Teaching Professor, although appointment as an Associate Teaching Professor may be possible depending on experience and qualifications. The position will report to the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

The candidate's service will be carried out on the Western Colorado University campus in Gunnison, Colorado as part of the Western Colorado University - CU Boulder Engineering Partnership Program (EPP). The EPP provides students with the opportunity to obtain a CU Boulder degree while staying on Western Colorado University's campus. The EPP is housed in a new $60M dollar facility with state-of-the-art labs and facilities, allowing the program to concentrate on industry-focused projects and project-based learning initiatives, in a small classroom environment.
The EPP provides a terrific opportunity to work in a university setting and enjoy all the amenities of small town living in the mountains of central Colorado. Located in historic Gunnison, Western is minutes from mountain biking, skiing, shing, climbing, rafting, hiking. **What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be**
The typical workload distribution of an Assistant Teaching Professor is 80% teaching and 20% service.

+ The anticipated start date for this position is August 2025, however a later start date may be negotiated.
+ Your service will be carried out on the Western Colorado University campus in Gunnison, Colorado, in the context of our Western Colorado University - University of Colorado Boulder (WCU/CU) Partnership Program.
**What We Can Offer**
+ The anticipated salary range for this position at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank is $93,000 - $101,000 academic year salary.
+ Qualified candidates will be considered for Associate Teaching Professor rank. The full salary range is $93,000 to $110,000.
+ A relocation stipend is available within CEAS guidelines.

**What We Require**
_Assistant Teaching Professor:_
+ Candidate must have earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
Or
+ A master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and at least three years of experience teaching or working in a related industry.
_Associate Teaching Professor:_
+ For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Associate Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must also have a minimum 6 years of teaching mechanical engineering or a closely related field at a higher education level and meet unit criteria at this level.
