Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Kinesiology Department (https://kin.uncg.edu/) has 26 full‐time faculty in the sub-disciplines of Applied Neuromechanics, Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Pedagogical Kinesiology, and Sports Medicine. The department is one of ten departments or programs in the School of Health and Human Sciences (https://hhs.uncg.edu/). The Kinesiology faculty have a history of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service, and the doctoral program was highly ranked in the most recent (2023) national rankings of the National Academy of Kinesiology for doctoral programs in kinesiology. The department is located in a modern facility with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, access to extensive classroom space, and access to MRI and MicroCT facilities dedicated for research purposes. Kinesiology is the 5th largest department at UNCG serving approximately 700 undergraduates and 175 graduate students. The department offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T., and Ph.D. degrees on campus, as well as an online Ed.D. and M.S. in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Position Summary The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for two, 9‐month, tenure track (TT) faculty positions in Applied Neuromechanics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with a 100% appointment in the Department. Minimum Qualifications We are seeking individuals with a strong background in biomechanics and/or motor behavior, encompassing both research and teaching experience. Candidates must have a minimum of earned PhD in biomechanics, movement neuroscience, motor behavior or a closely related discipline to enhance interdisciplinary research in the Applied Neuromechanics area. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of a focused, independent line of research with the potential to secure external funding to support research activities. We are also seeking candidates with a strong commitment to engaging with other faculty in Kinesiology and the School of Health and Human Sciences to integrate biomechanics and motor behavior principles into interdisciplinary research and teaching. Preferred Qualifications Individuals with one or more of the following additional qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply: experience in supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activities; expertise in MRI, fMRI, and related neuroimaging techniques. We desire that one of the two positions be filled by a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
