Minimum Qualifications + Juris Doctorate Degree required; + Must possess a license to practice law in the State of Louisiana; + Must be in good standing with the Louisiana Bar Association; + Prior experience in civil litigation, preferably with experience in fraud investigations, healthcare law, or public assistance programs; + Ability to handle sensitive cases with the highest level of professional integrity and adherence to ethical standards; + Ability to travel (including overnight travel) for state wide, state court appearances and continuing education and other conferences, as required. Preferred Qualifications: + Familiarity with Medicaid regulations and related healthcare fraud laws is preferred; + Prior civil litigation experience (i.e. discovery, depositions, motions practice, and trial). Job Concepts The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Attorney General to join our team. This position focuses on investigating and litigating civil cases related to Medicaid fraud, ensuring accountability and enforcing the laws protecting the Medicaid program. As a civil attorney within the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of Medicaid services, prosecuting fraud, and recovering funds for the State. Examples of Work The duties and requirements of an Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit shall include, but is not limited to the following: + Represent the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit in civil cases, including fraud investigations, false claims, and false statements involving Medicaid services; + Prepare and file civil complaints, motions, legal briefs, discovery requests, subpoenas, and other related documents as appropriate; + Manage a caseload of civil Medicaid fraud cases, from initiation to resolution, ensuring efficient and effective prosecution of fraudulent activities, + prosecutions, charging decisions, court hearings, motions, trial and pre-trial preparations, plea negotiations and appellate matters; + Possess strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication and negotiation abilities; + Perform any additional duties assigned by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Section Chief, Deputy Director and/or Director.
