Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: + Must possess a license to practice law in the State of Louisiana; + Must be in good standing with the Louisiana Bar Association. Preferred Qualifications: + One (1) to Three (3) years’ legal experience; + Knowledge of regulatory and/or administrative laws, including, but not limited to, the Louisiana Administrative Procedure Act; + Possess excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills; + Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills; + Ability to work independently and on a team; + Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills; + Be dependable and self-motivated. Job Concepts The Occupational Licensing Review Program (OLRP) ensures participating boards and their members maintain immunity from federal antitrust lawsuits through active state supervision by the Attorney General and the LADOJ through this program. The OLRP reviews proposed occupational regulations and proposed anti-competitive disciplinary actions of participating occupational licensing boards through the State of Louisiana and provides a written determination approving or denying the proposals submitted. Examples of Work The position of an Assistant Attorney General in the Occupational Licensing Review Program (OLRP) may consist of, but are not limited to, the following duties: + Perform recurring duties independently; + Utilize attention to detail in review of various reports (paper and electronic formats); + Analyze occupational regulations and disciplinary actions submitted by the participating OLRP boards for compliance with state statutes and clearly articulated state policy; + Review and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures governing occupational licensing boards enrolled in the OLRP; + Perform legal research and draft determination letters providing for approval, revision, or disapproval of occupational rules and disciplinary boards enrolled in the OLRP; + Communicate legal issues to non-attorney OLRP participants; + Prepare, proofread, and edit correspondence and determination letters; + Conduct legal research on state and federal statutes, administrative code, and relevant case law in relation to occupational licensing; + Receive research assignments from supervising attorneys, conduct thorough and complete legal research and provide clear concise analysis of the legal research; + Review, research and analyze assigned occupational regulations submitted to the OLRP and assigned by supervising attorneys for compliance with Louisiana statutes and clearly articulated state policy; + Perform active state supervision and drafts determination letters providing for approval, revision, or disapproval of submitted occupational rules and disciplinary matters indicating reasoning therefore; + Accept additional duties as assigned.
