Running a cue track for performances within the Flamingo Main Showroom and other special events/ shows in the theater. They must know how to perform a daily general check of the Audio system and its equipment within the Showroom. The Audio Assistant must be able to multitask and adapt, watching the show and artists movements, with the ability to adjust cues as needed. This technician must be able to troubleshoot Audio issues that arise during a show, using clear communication to problem solve in a timely manner. IATSE 720 member who is “A” List REQUIRED.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ø IATSE 720 member who is “A” List
Ø Prior production show experience as an Audio Assistant for at least 2 years.
Ø Able to work with the Head Carpenter
Ø Able to work with the Head of Audio
Ø Able to work with the Technical Manager/ Technical Director
Ø Able to work with numerous and diverse cast members and crew to troubleshoot operational show issues calmly and clearly communicate needs/expectations with others.
Ø Willing to take work calls for general daily maintenance such as Audio maintenance, Amp rack equipment, speakers, Microphones, RF, comm, work areas, and other general equipment repair.
Ø Willing to take work calls for rehearsals and other special events.
Ø Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
Ø Able to work 6 days a week on a long-term basis.
Ø Ability to lift 50lbs
Ø Ability to go up and down stairs as frequently as needed based on changing production needs and work calls
Ø Ability to work at heights when doing maintenance or doing cable runs
Ø High level of mobility, including regularly going up and downstairs and standing/moving for 90+ minute intervals
Ø OSHA 10 certification
Ø Ability to train on more than one set of cues based on theatrical knowledge and skillset for other departments a plus.
Ø Ability to operate a Yamaha PM5D and be responsible for the in-ear monitor mix for the principle performers
Ø Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Freespeak II Clear Com System
Ø Operate, maintain, program, and troubleshoot Qlab
Ø knowledge of digital audio consoles, DigiCo, Preferred
Ø Be able to do a daily Plot and Perform mic changes during show that accommodate performer needs in terms of costume, movement, and quick-change to accommodate the needs of the version of the show that evening.
Ø Maintain flexibility in a dynamic show environment and demonstrate a willingness to support the team with changes.
Primary Job Duties
Ø Assist in Inspecting and Maintaining audio equipment to insure safe and consistent operation, including cleaning and routine maintenance;
Ø Keep a proper inventory of supplies and report them to Head of Audio and prevent deficits from occurring
Ø Aid in the evolution of the production by working with the Head Audio in making changes to show flow as required
Ø Assist in maintaining documentation of show cues, cue track, and the sound rig, as directed;
Ø Assist in training additional operators to maintain coverage for department
Ø Support special events, including installation of new audio show elements;
Ø Participate in all required safety, emergency rescue trainings, and corporate trainings as directed
Ø Performing mic checks and upkeep
Ø Maintaining com headsets
Ø Handing off mics to performers when needed and sanitize them as needed
